WHO WE ARE

Who We Are: Welcome

FOUNDING MEMBERS

We strongly believe that the what, the how, the why and the when is much more important than the who.  However we thought it would be useful for people to know who we are.

I started track cycling in the dying embers of 2019 and I've loved it ever since. I have a huge passion for being part of the cycling community and working collectively to achieve more.  Track Nation is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and form a community that serves the interests of those passionate about track cycling.  I have previous experience of being involved in a sports club, holding various different positions over the years.

Having previously raced downhill mountain bikes, I became involved in track cycling after I moved to London and wanted to find a new outlet for my fearless love of speed. I quickly found that there was a huge amount to learn with track cycling and not many places to find specific information. I’ve been involved in multiple forms of cycling at different levels, with various clubs across the country. I know how daunting it can be as a beginner, but also how you can still learn new skills even as an experienced rider. Having access to a community of like-minded people and support for individual goals is hugely invaluable and the key to developing not only as a rider, but the whole sport.

Who We Are: Text

OLIVIER NILSSON-JULIEN

A few words from Olivier...

A level 3 track coach, working with individual riders and groups. Next to the one-on-one coaching, I freelance at Herne Hill Velodrome and I’m a VC Londres volunteer club coach. I also coach at other clubs, including Islington CC youth sessions. Over the years, I’ve worked at Lee Valley VeloPark, coached BC track clusters and regional sessions as well as led regional teams (Eastern, South East) at School Games and Inter-Regional Track champs. I’ve started taking on more individual riders now that my son has moved to Manchester to join the GB Senior Academy. I’ve even found the headspace to start racing at Herne Hill track league again! Although coaching is my main activity, I’m also an occasional Rouleur reporter.

I support Track Nation because I can relate to the passion behind it. It may not fit into existing structures or thinking, but I’m for anything that can shake up the tribes and contribute to reviving track culture. Most new track riders aren’t blessed with the access to sessions and track community we have at Herne Hill. Time to share. Call me a track evangelist. Vive la piste!
